I
first learned about "water witching" or dowsing from my father. Where he
learned what he knew, he never told me. Instead he wove a beautiful mysterious instruction in his story telling, and set me off to practice using a pair of coat hanger rods he'd bent and fashioned into use.  Later, he chose to drill our family home's well in the location I selected, placing his confidence and his money on my gift. When the drillers hit bedrock at 46 ft, my 17 year old self grew doubtful.  At 53 ft the bit dropped into a natural chamber in the rock and water gushed out of the ground. I had found a fresh sweet water, artesian spring in a geographical area known for sulfurous wells. The drilling company tried pumping to empty the chamber of water, hoping to measure how much it would hold, and they couldn't. The well runs true to this day, over 30 yrs later.

Today, I still use home constructed coat hanger rods for dowsing, and sometimes just my hands, in the art of divining. Most of my dowsing practice has its application in measuring chakra balance, in the hunt for lost objects, for questioning spirit, and at times in the search for water. I also teach dowsing to those who would like to learn.

It was as a "water witch," in my youth, that I met with my first and most rewarding success. I owe my father gratitude for his early encouragement and for opening my mind to greater possibilities. (Love you daddy, rest in peace.)
